Divorce and Custody Mediation Training

Overview

Are you looking for a comprehensive basic divorce and custody mediation class that meets state requirements? Look no further.

In response to the growing demand for professional mediators, the Mediation Training & Consultation Institute offers a comprehensive 40-hour, five-day hands-on training. Workshops are regularly scheduled in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Chicago, Illinois. These workshops cost $1,500, with a discount for early registration. See our calendar for upcoming trainings. In addition, we can bring the program to you. Contact us if your organization is interested in hosting a workshop at your site.

This program is paced to involve and inform you throughout the workshop; past attendees have told us that our training is the best they've ever received. We're confident you'll feel the same about your experience with us.

Through a combination of role play, lecture, simulation, discussion and videotapes of actual mediation, this workshop takes participants through the process of divorce and custody mediation from the orientation session to the completed memorandum of agreement.

Each workshop covers the following:

Mediation techniques
Power balancing
Support and parenting arrangements
Custody issues
Property division
Tax, pension, and financial issues
The emotional stages of divorce
Working constructively with attorneys
Using experts in mediation
Screening for domestic violence and other impediments to mediation
Ethics and standards of practice
Marketing, networking and professional development

You'll also receive a comprehensive training manual and CD with ready-to-use forms.

Attendance at each workshop is limited to assure direct feedback and coaching in role plays. We also connect participants to supervision and continuing education programs.
